Friendly and Consultative Meeting Brings Together the Consul General of Algeria in London with Representatives of Algerian Associations, Schools and Members of the National Community in the United Kingdom

As part of his activities following his appointment, the Consul General of Algeria to the United Kingdom organised, on Thursday, 24 September 2026, a meeting with representatives of active Algerian associations serving the community, alongside directors and representatives of Algerian schools, civil-society figures based in the United Kingdom, and individuals interested in community affairs who were able to attend.

The meeting was conducted in a friendly, open and frank atmosphere. It provided an appropriate opportunity to raise various concerns and issues facing the Algerian community in the United Kingdom and to discuss ways of strengthening relations between the Consulate General and the community, as well as improving communication between them, in the interest of serving all members of our community.

The meeting also gave attendees an opportunity to get acquainted and exchange experiences, and to learn more about the important charitable and social work carried out by Algerian associations and activists for the benefit of the community. Participants expressed surprise at the lack of communication among them, despite the existence of many associations managed by Algerians of significant standing in the United Kingdom.

The meeting was also an opportunity to present the broad outlines of the roadmap for the coming period, as well as the measures recently adopted by the Consulate General to improve consular services and develop communication with the national community. These include improving the Consulate’s telephone service, electronic communication with consular departments and mobile consular services, and activating the role of the legal adviser, in line with the Government’s general policy and its commitment to the Algerian community abroad.

The importance of the next stage was also emphasised, particularly the need to revitalise the role of the Algerian community in the United Kingdom, strengthen its contribution to serving its members and build stronger links with the homeland. This would be achieved through the involvement of associations, schools, legal professionals, students, academics, businesspeople and civil-society actors, thereby unifying efforts and making better use of the talents and expertise of Algerians living abroad.

At the end of the meeting, one participant and a representative of an association presented a valuable artwork of his own creation to the Consulate General. The painting, written in traditional Andalusian calligraphy, depicted the Beni Hammad Citadel in the province of Béchar and bore the words: “Algeria the Guarded.”

The meeting concluded in a positive atmosphere, reflecting a shared desire to open a new chapter of cooperation, communication and joint action in the interests of the community and to strengthen its connection with the homeland, under the motto: “Algeria First and Algeria Last, Always Algeria.”

The Consulate General thanks all participants, both personally and on behalf of the associations or schools they represented. It hopes that future meetings will attract even greater attendance and representation of our community. The Consul General will also hold further meetings with students, scientific and professional experts, businesspeople, other associations and citizens from all sections of the community.
