ENTRY VISA TO ALGERIA

Visa terms

All non-Algerians need to apply for a visa to enter Algeria. There are exceptions for some nationals of foreign countries, listed below, who are exempted from visas:

All Nationals from :Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Seychelles, Tunisia.

The Consulate General of Algeria in London will process visa applications made by applicants residing in the UK only. Others foreign citizens must provide "proof of residency in the UK". Regardless of their age, kids traveling with their parents need a visa. 

British passport holders residing abroad must apply for their visa to Algeria at the Algerian Embassy or Consulate accredited in the country of their actual residence  

 

 Lodging of applications:

 Applicants must lodge their applications in person or by couriers at the Consulate General between 9:30 am - 01:00 pm, Tuesday to     Saturday (no appointment needed).  Visa applications can also be made by post.

  Applicants by post must send a prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope for returning the passport(s).

Note: any incomplete application, including the form, will be either rejected if lodged in person at the Consulate General or returned to the sender if made by post.

Processing time:

The processing time may vary according to the nationality of the applicant and the visa type. However, visas submitted in person are generally issued within 10 working days. For the applications sent by post, the processing time is at least 15 working days.

During certain periods of the year (summer holidays, New Year's holidays, Ramadhan, Eid celebrations), the processing time may be extended by 5 more working days for each period indicated above. This is due to the high volume of applications being processed.

The processing of an application may be delayed if prior agreement by Algerian authorities is required.

The Consulate General reserves the right to request additional documentation from applicants.

The Consulate General has no express service to process applications merely due to planned travel date, the Consulate General advise also not to buy non-refundable or non-flexible ticket until the visa is issued.

The responsibility for any financial loss occurred lies with the applicant(s).

The date of departure does not affect the processing time of the visa.

For applications sent by post, the processing time starts only when the application is received by our office.

The Consulate General is not responsible for delays due to postal services. Please take note of the code bar number of your recorded envelope to be able to track your returned mail.

Return of passports:

Applicants may pick up their passports at the Consulate General between 9:30 am - 1:00 pm Tuesday to Saturday (please see Opening hours & holidays page for more details) or send a "prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope".

The Consulate General is not responsible for the loss or delays of documents by the post office or other visa services.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is not required for British and Irish citizens.
The travel insurance is mandatory for the citizens of the following countries : 
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, France, Germany, Greece,        Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania,Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands (The), New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania.
The day of insurance is the first day of validity of the visa.
