Commemorating the 71st Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Glorious Liberation Revolution

On 8 November 2025, the Consulate General of Algeria in London commemorated the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious 1 November 1954 Revolution by organizing a ceremony at its premises, attended by more than one thousand (1,000) members of the Algerian community from different backgrounds, age groups and regions across the United Kingdom.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence in tribute to the souls of the noble martyrs of the Revolution. The Consul General then delivered a speech in which he highlighted the profound significance of the 1 November Revolution and its enduring historical legacy, emphasizing the immense sacrifices made by the martyrs and freedom fighters in the struggle to liberate the homeland. He also referred to the process of nation-building and development taking place in the New Algeria under its leadership. He further underscored the role of the Algerian diaspora abroad in promoting a positive image of their homeland within their communities and contributing to the country’s ongoing development, while commending the heroic actions of Algerian citizen Samir Zeitouni.

The ceremony also featured a tribute to a number of members of the Algerian community in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Traditional Algerian food, beverages and pastries were served, and a large tent was set up for the preparation and serving of tea, showcasing the richness and authenticity of Algerian cuisine.

The evening also included a musical performance, as well as a presentation of photographs and videos documenting key stages of the liberation revolution and national achievements since independence. The event thus took on a genuinely festive and authentic character, reflecting the deep attachment of the Algerian community to its homeland, its pride in its national identity, and its appreciation of its glorious history.
