Commemoration of National Martyrs’ Day

As part of the commemoration of National Martyrs’ Day, observed annually on February 18, the Consulate General of Algeria in London organized, on the morning of February 18, 2026, at its premises, a ceremony of tribute and remembrance under the theme “Faithful to the Martyrs’ Pledge,” attended by a significant number of members of the Algerian community.

The ceremony began with the raising of the national flag, followed by the playing of the national anthem, the recitation of Al-Fatiha, and a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of the noble martyrs.

The speech delivered on this occasion emphasized that this enduring commemoration represents an opportunity to honor and take pride in the sacrifices of Algeria’s martyrs, who paved the way for freedom and independence. It also highlighted that commemorating this day represents a renewed commitment across generations to draw inspiration from the values of sacrifice, belonging, and loyalty to the homeland.

The speech further acknowledged the patriotic role played by members of the Algerian community abroad, stressing that honoring the martyrs is embodied in preserving the unity of the nation, serving it with dedication, and strengthening its stability.
