Commemoration of Martyrs’ Day, observed on 20 August 2026

Like all Algerian people, both at home and abroad, the Consulate General of Algeria in London today commemorated Mujahid Day, observed on 20 August 2026, under the slogan “Following in the footsteps of their struggle, we march forward.”

The ceremony was attended by a large number of members of the Algerian community residing in the United Kingdom. On this occasion, a minute of silence was observed in memory of our honoured martyrs, followed by the recitation of Al-Fatiha.

The Consul General also delivered a speech marking the occasion, reminding those present of the history of our proud and resilient people and highlighting some of the events associated with this double anniversary: the Northern Constantine Offensive of 20 August 1955 and the convening of the Soummam Congress on 20 August 1956.
